"Let me in, I'll come in": a pair of Japanese cats have been trying to get into the museum for two years
For several years, two "tailed bandits" have been trying to enter the territory of a municipal facility in the Japanese prefecture of Hiroshima. The guard restrains emotions with all his might and turns the seals back. But the animals do not give up and try again and again.
Such a mimic "war" has been going on for two years… Read about the history of the confrontation between museum workers and tailed violators in our material.
The Onomichi City Museum of Art in Hiroshima Prefecture has recently experienced a rise in popularity. But users were not interested in local exhibits, but two cats who have been trying to get into the museum through a security post for two years.
The history of the confrontation between the guards and the tailed ones dates back to the summer of 2016. Then a photo exhibition of pets was held in Onomichi. On one of the days of the exhibition, an unknown black cat approached the entrance to the museum, but he was delicately deployed at the second door.
The internal regulations prohibit visiting the museum with animals, but this did not stop the mustachioed visitor. Over time, he got a partner — a red cat.
Over the past two years, cats have repeatedly appeared on the threshold of the museum. According to the guard, the animals, which were named Ken Chan and Gou Chan (in translation it literally sounds like a "black" and "red" cat), come several times a week.
They calmly head to the entrance to the museum, where security is already waiting for them. To be fair, both sides adhere to etiquette in this "war". The guards do not try to throw the cats out into the street — instead, the animals are patiently turned around and wait for them to leave, which they do every time.
Over time, cats became a kind of mascot of the museum. Now many visitors come here not at all for the sake of art — they hope to see famous seals.
Since 2017, the museum has been selling souvenirs in honor of the "tailed bandits". After getting acquainted with the exhibits, visitors can relax in a themed cafe, where there were also images of cats. Many commentators on Twitter joke that the violators of the order cannot even appreciate everything that was done in their honor, because they are not allowed.

One day, Ken Chan still managed to slip into the lobby, but he was immediately deployed by the administrators.
The photo clearly shows that the cats are well-groomed, and Ken Chan is sporting a fashionable bow tie. Most likely, the animals are pets. But what attracts them to the museum? This mystery has not yet been solved.
