James Bond eco-house in Malibu put up for sale for $ 100 million
Pierce Brosnan, one of the most popular performers of the role of James Bond, moved with his wife Killy Shay to Hawaii. The couple put their former home in Malibu up for sale for a whopping $100 million. Who needs a James Bond house? Fly in!
This oceanfront villa occupies an honorable eighth place in the list of the most expensive real estate (for sale) in Los Angeles. Let's take a look inside…
This house, dubbed the "House of Orchids," is inspired by Southeast Asia at the time when Brosnan starred in the 1997 Bond film "Tomorrow will Never Die." The construction took about 10 years, and its features are wide teak planks and a tiled roof made of green clay, inspired by the temples that the actor's family admired in Asia. Even the carved teak entrance gate to this house was delivered from Thailand.
"I worked with pleasure," recalls Brosnan's wife Keely, who led the construction and design processes of the house.
The house is built on two combined plots of land, which Brosnan bought back in 2000 for $5.1 and $2.25 million, respectively.
The house is as eco-friendly as possible: a large number of solar panels allows it to be completely heated by the energy of the sun in the dwelling, and at the same time to heat the pool. A water recycling and purification system is installed in the house, and decomposed garbage is processed in a technological compost pit with electric heating.
In the numerous recreation areas, you can relax while admiring the ocean view - or go for a swim on your own beach.

The construction of the house lasted about 10 years.
The glass panel doors slide back, turning the ground floor rooms into part of the patio.
67-year-old Brosnan and his wife, 56-year-old Kelly Shay, decided to move to Hawaii, away from Hollywood, so they decided to sell their home in Malibu.
There are many recreation areas on the territory of the villa.
Due to the huge territory and many buildings, the villa is more like a hotel than a private house.
The bedroom on the second floor has a view of the pool and the ocean.
The summer dining room is covered with glass panels that do not spoil the view, but at the same time protect diners from the wind from the ocean.
The panel door opens access from the kitchen, equipped with the latest technology, directly into the open dining area, so that hot dishes can be immediately delivered to the table.
At the level of the second floor, a veranda covered with a canopy from the sun stretches around the house.
Brosnan actively participated in the construction of the house at every stage - up to the selection of eco-friendly wooden panels for the kitchen and toilets with a water-saving function for latrines.
The main living room with huge windows is filled with natural light.
The garden is made by experienced landscape designers and resembles landscapes from the movie "Tomorrow will never die".

There is a bar on the ground floor of a two-storey guest house by the pool.
The basis of the garden is made up of tropical plants.
