A photo of the homeland is a sacred rite of any serviceman. The photo should be solemn and emphasize the importance of the soldier's mission. The beginning of this tradition was laid at the end of the XIX century. However, then there was no opportunity to instantly click a person in the most advantageous scenery. Therefore, it was necessary to use homemade models of airplanes, cars, tanks, shells as props.

Christopher Steiner, a professor of art history and anthropology at Connecticut College, once collected a large collection of similar photographs from the First World War and subsequent years up to the Second World War. Soldiers from France, the USA and Germany are happy to pose in photo studios or specially equipped places in amusement parks.
