In jest and in earnest: grotesque and realism in the paintings of Mikhail Vachaev
Mikhail Vachaev, an artist from Yekaterinburg— is a master with an original style, whose paintings cannot be confused with the works of other painters. Calm, slightly muted colors, skillfully chosen angles and neglect of trifles for the sake of the general idea - all this leaves a pleasant impression of paintings that you want to come back to again and again. The mood of Mikhail's paintings is easily conveyed to the audience — this applies to both his serious works and satirical ones.
Now Mikhail is 31 years old, the I.D. Shadr School is behind him and there are many serious exhibitions, both in Russia and in Europe. Vachaev is a very versatile artist, among whose works there are classical portraits and landscapes, grotesque, fantasy and even paintings in the style of surrealism. Mikhail works not only with paints and pencils.
In his creative piggy bank there are also wonderful samples of digital art created using a graphic tablet. The master is also interested in wall painting — his first work in this direction can be considered the painting of the church of St. Peter and Paul in Pervouralsk, which he performed in collaboration with other artists in 2012.
