"I want you to think": who is Naomi Seibt "Anti-Greta Thunberg", rapidly gaining popularity
As you know, any action generates a reaction. That is why sooner or later there had to be a person who would oppose himself to Greta Thunberg, who was pretty fed up with everyone. And he appeared — this is 19-year-old German Naomi Seibt, who tells everyone: "I don't want you to panic. I want you to think."
The whole world started talking about 16-year-old eco-activist Greta Thunberg in September 2019, after her emotional speech at the UN summit on climate change. The girl accused the heads of state that they "stole her childhood", ignoring environmental protection.
Despite such an ambiguous reputation, Time magazine named the girl "Person of the Year", and later it became known that she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Now Greta continues her vigorous activity in the field of ecology, without changing her aggressive manner of behavior. "I want you to panic," she said at the UN summit and is doing everything to make everything happen that way.
But general panic is not the best way to save the planet. And this was announced in January 2020 by 19-year-old German Naomi Seibt in the press. This smart and no less eloquent girl than Greta condemns the ideas that the opponent promotes, calling them "disgusting anti-human ideology."
Naomi considers herself to be a "climate realist" and is sure that many environmental activists exaggerate the damage that humanity causes to the environment too much.
Zaybt began to be interested in social activities in her school years. The first sharp questions that Naomi asked others concerned the liberal policy of the German government. Later, her attention was attracted by young people who participated in the Thunberg project "Fridays for the Future".
The girl told reporters that she literally began to shake at the sight of these frightened teenagers who panic and sow fear among the masses. Naomi understands that they don't want our world to end, but categorically disapproves of their methods of protest.
To understand the question, Naomi delved into science. Very soon she realized that although human activity affects the state of the environment, it cannot be the main cause of the destruction of our planet. In May 2019, Zaybt created a YouTube channel where she posts videos with her thoughts on the environmental situation.
In November, the Munich analytical center EIKE (European Institute of Climate and Energy) became interested in her activities and invited her to participate in a seminar. After that, the girl was noticed by the director of the Center for Climate and Environmental Policy at the Heartland Institute, James Taylor.
Before the New Year, Naomi made a speech at the UN Madrid Forum, and in January she was invited to cooperate by the Heartland Institute. The campaign of the scientific center is aimed at destroying the well-established myth that it is human activity that leads to dangerous global warming. In her speeches, which take place all over the world, Naomi Seibt asks people not to jump to conclusions and not to take for granted everything that Greta Thunberg and her supporters aggressively and emotionally impose on them. The girl wants everyone to draw conclusions based on scientific data, and only after that decide which side to take.
So Naomi said in a recent interview with journalists of The Daily Telegraph. She is called "Anti-Greta", but Seibt is against such a nickname. She demands to be treated as a person, and not perceived as a puppet, whose strings are pulled by Thunberg's opponents.
At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC 2020, held in the USA, the girl told the audience the following:
Many believe that Naomi Seibt, like Greta Thunberg herself, is far from an unambiguous person. "Climate Realist" not only does not hide its joint work with the Heartland Institute, but on the contrary emphasizes it in every possible way.
The Guardian claims that this institute is funded by oil and coal companies and can be considered the main mouthpiece of "radical anti-climate theories." Also, Heartland was seen in connections with people from the inner circle of US President Donald Trump, who, as is known, refers to Greta Thunberg's opponents.
There are serious suspicions that the Seibt is an instrument of pressure by the American oil lobby on the German government, which is too carried away by green energy technologies. It is likely that there are no less powerful forces behind a girl named Naomi than those that elevated an angry Swedish schoolgirl with pigtails.
This is sad, because it may well turn out that the "ecological circus" is just a tool in a political battle. Of course, in this case, both one and the other side, regardless of the slogans, cares about saving our planet in the very last place.
