How to make the most out of a minimum of space: a fully functional apartment in Taiwan with an area of only 22 square meters
Urbanization is gaining momentum every year, more and more people are moving to cities, and housing prices are rising and rising. The capital of Taiwan, Taipei, is no exception. It is here that a compact apartment is located, the design of which was developed by the architectural bureau A Little Design.
Architects have worked such magic on this studio with an area of 22 square meters that its happy owner has not only received everything necessary for a comfortable stay, but even manages to play sports in such a tiny space.
The area of the micro-apartment in total is only 22 square meters, but the ceiling height of 3.3 meters left the designers room for maneuver.
The specialists were faced with the task of combining convenience and beauty with maximum functionality. They managed to simplify the movement around the apartment and place all the necessary areas: kitchen, recreation area, bedroom and workplace.
And the high ceiling made it possible to organize a sleeping place and storage space on an additional level.
For a warm and cozy atmosphere, neutral colors were chosen — white and natural oak.
This is how the first level looks from the second floor.
On the second level there is a sleeping area, and the stairs leading to it hide additional storage space. To get to the shelves, they put a folding metal ladder.
The customer insisted that the apartment must have a storage system with bookshelves.
The landlady travels a lot for work, and on returning home often wants only to take a hot bath and get a good night's sleep.
The mezzanine became a bedroom with a double bed and a work desk.
Due to the low ceiling at this level, it is impossible to stand up to your full height, but there is a feeling of closed personal space and peace — what you need after a working day.
The kitchen in the studio is compact, but at the same time fully functional. A washing machine is also located here.
The kitchen area is located in a recess and does not interfere with movement between rooms.
Two tables in the living room are transformed into one dining table, and if desired, into a bar counter.
When they stand parallel to the wall, the space in the room increases — you can play sports or invite friends.
A bathtub with a shower was installed in the bathroom, which significantly saved space and made it possible to put a water heater. Sliding doors and mirrors visually expanded the room.
This is what the first level plan looks like.
It was not easy to equip a small studio, but the designers made every corner as functional as possible.
