Last night there was a real celebration in the Portuguese capital Lisbon: tens of thousands of fans lit torches, honked car horns and waved national flags and red-green scarves. The Portuguese national team defeated the French team in the final match of the European Football Championship, held in Paris at the Stade de France stadium.
The match ended with a score of 1:0. The goal was scored in added time. The Portuguese were able to win, even though the team captain Cristiano Ronaldo left the field due to injury only in the 25th minute of the game. The three-time winner of the Golden Ball collided with the knees of the opposing team's midfielder Dimitri Payet, and he was carried off the field on a stretcher.
