How an Irish photographer was looking for love in the nightclubs of the 1980s

Categories: Europe |

These photos were taken by Tom Wood in the period from 1982 to 1986 at the Chelsea Ranch nightclub in the small seaside town of New Brighton in England. The Irish photographer, who vividly conveys the atmosphere of Britain of the 80s, combined these works into a series called "Looking for Love" (Looking for Love: Chelsea Reach), which has been published many times in the form of a photo album.

Photojournalist Tom Wood, with an excellent sense of humor and great sympathy for his heroes, documented the lives of residents of an industrial British city. Simple guys and girls came to the club to have fun and "find love". They drank, flirted, kissed, danced and had fun all night long, completely ignoring the photographer.
