Highlights from Wacken 2013

Categories: Holidays and Festivals |

From August 1 to August 3, the world's largest heavy music festival, Wacken Open Air, took place in the small German town of Wacken. It is considered the main event of the year among metalheads. This year it gathered more than 80,000 people.

The frontmen of this year's festival were such bands and performers: Motörhead, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Meshuggah, Amorphis, Nightwish, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Manowar, Rammstein and many other bands and performers.

The festival was first held in 1990 with the participation of local bands, but every year the popularity of Wacken grew, and by 1998 it had become a European and then a world-class festival.
