These mysterious creatures resemble creatures that live on another planet. The depths of the seas and oceans are filled with life, about which we know less than about the surface of the lunar craters.

These fantastic underwater photos were taken by Alexander Semenov, a marine biologist and professional underwater photographer. Since 2008, the Russian traveler has been studying the underwater life of sea butterflies, worms and angels. He also leads a team of diving scientists at the White Sea Biostation of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The station was founded in 1938, and was mainly built by enthusiasts who came here to enjoy the amazing atmosphere created over the years. This is an unusual, unique mix of student energy, serious science and harsh northern nature.
