Girls, beaches, Instagram: the famous photographer shares the secrets of popularity in social networks
Nowadays, you can build a career with the help of Instagram. Thanks to the vision of the frame or the right hashtags, you can be invited to work by the creative director of a cool agency or you will be able to create your own digital platform. In the conditions of constantly growing competition in the market, a certain layer of "old school" photographers is trying to disown all these "instagrammers". However, the Polish Magdalena Vosinska fearlessly fits into the company of both the first and the second: she is professionally proficient in the art of photography, and about 195 thousand users have subscribed to her Instagram account.
Magdalena's Instagram with the hashtag #TheExperienceVol1 exists in the form of a kind of gallery with photos from her travels, full of beautiful, even to some extent visually poetic pictures. At the same time, her commercial projects consist of slightly more polished materials. However, at a time when "every second is a photographer", even super professionals should be present in the space of social networks.
— How did you manage to create such an unusual style? — As long as I have been photographing, I feel so much interest in sharing cool pictures from my travels. Many people have been doing this since the birth of photography, but recently it has become very popular to publish photos from travel, to be a so-called travel blogger. In many ways, because it has become so easy and accessible — go on a trip, create an account on Instagram or on Facebook — and the thing is in the hat. And actually, I'm just one of those people.
— Do you think this is a trend of our generation, or are we all just using available technologies? — I think it's both. This is a typical hobby for our generation, and, of course, it is popular in many ways also because the way to share your photos and videos has become available. Moreover, it's inspiring when you see the results of other people's work: you admire and want to create something no less beautiful.
— What feelings do you feel when you think about the fact that almost everyone can be a photographer at the present time? — A lot of people from those who were not able to share pictures from their travels before can now do it, because they created these ill-fated smartphones with cameras. But in general, technically now everyone who has a device with a camera can be considered a photographer. It's just that not everyone is a good photographer.
I Instagram photographers who are not subscribed to by many users, but they are very respected and much more iconic figures than most of those who are popular on Instagram.
What really pisses me off is when someone puts a label on you as an Instagram photographer, and you think: "My God, I've been doing this for 15 years!" It sounds very humiliating.
I take my work seriously, I earn good money, and I also take photos, because it's a pleasure for me.
There are so many different styles of photography and ways to take pictures. The photographer should be able to work in each of them. If you go too deep into commercial shooting, you will be able to earn more money, but you will probably get bored quite quickly.
Many people follow my photos on Instagram. But in my opinion, people think too much about how many subscribers they have. Is it really possible to use this indicator to talk about how good I am? This is all a damn popularity contest.
— This is a certain currency of social networks. If you see some Instagram celebrity at a party, it's hard not to think: "Wow, this guy has 500 thousand subscribers!" - Well, yes, and immediately start respecting him even more. I think it totally sucks. You know what else totally sucks? In real life, I have only three friends. There are only three people on the planet Earth, not counting my parents, I can trust. Everything else is just an illusion.
