Ferguson on fire
New riots erupted in Ferguson after a jury decided not to prosecute police officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown on August 9. After the announcement of the decision, disgruntled demonstrators began to break shop windows and throw stones at the police, looting and fires began. Dozens of buildings and several police cars were set on fire. The police used tear gas against the protesters and detained several dozen rioters.
