Unusual structures were installed along the canal on the island of Oosterdok in Amsterdam. People will be able to come here for lunch or dinner - provided that they live in the same house and "self-isolate" together. The restaurant hopes that the innovation will allow visitors to comply with all safety rules now and will be useful for the future — as an option for a transitional period.

To date, there are 41,319 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 5,204 deaths in the Netherlands.

Since mid-March, a "reasonable lockdown" (the term of Prime Minister Mark Rutte) has been introduced in the country: schools, bars, restaurants, museums are closed, people are strongly encouraged to work from home and keep a social distance on the street.

The first relaxation of restrictive measures occurred last week, when sports training for young children was again allowed. Elementary schools are scheduled to open next week.
