Couple 26 years spent on the restoration of the reserve, when a tropical forest
Pamela Gale Malhotra (Pamela Gale Malhotra) and her husband Anil Malhotra (Anil Malhotra) — the owners of the only in India private nature reserve, Sai Sanctuary, which was opened in 1991. Today the reserve area of 300 acres is home to more than two hundred endangered species of plants and animals including the Indian elephant and Bengal tiger.
"When we bought this land, it was abandoned, — said Pamela. — Abandoned rice fields, coffee plantations and cardamom fields. The place for the most part have obezbedile. And then, to restore nature, we took dozens of years and a lot of forces."
In that part of India which is a nature reserve, the level of forest cover from the 1970s with 86% reduced to 16%.
