It’s hard to imagine that today’s teenagers would want to wear things that their moms and dads loved at their age. Nevertheless, some old items from my parents’ wardrobe are quite relevant today. Some things in fashion come and go, but some things are practical forever. Let's find out what modern youth "inherited" from older generations.

In the 70s and 80s, sneakers were a real symbol of Soviet youth. There were several reasons for their popularity. Firstly, these are affordable sports shoes. Secondly, it was a kind of challenge to the classics imposed by society. And thirdly, sneakers are very similar to sneakers, which are inaccessible to most Soviet boys and girls.

Sneakers weren't the healthiest shoes for your feet. But few people paid attention to this. Interest in them began to decline only in the late 80s with the appearance of a large number of Chinese and Turkish sneakers on the domestic market. In the 2000s, sneakers returned to youth fashion again, but their price tag is often mercilessly high.

Those leggings that we see on girls today are essentially no longer leggings. They can be called post-leggings, as there are a number of differences. There is a special name for them - leggings. The original leggings came into fashion in the early 80s, when rhythmic gymnastics, or aerobics, began to gain popularity.

Men were not interested in leggings and were only worn at concerts by rock stars such as Scorpions, Motley Crue or Aria. But for women in everyday life they “got far.” Moreover, the brightest and most unusual colors, including leopard print, were popular. Modern leggings rarely come in provocative colors and are made of cotton rather than polyester. Otherwise, they are quite similar to their ancestors from the 80s.

The word "leather jacket" exists only in Russian. In the West, leather jackets with diagonal zippers are grouped into the category of biker or rocker jackets. Once upon a time, everyone wore leather jackets, and for many such a jacket was the ultimate dream. In the mid-90s, they were chosen mainly by representatives of certain youth subcultures.

These days, the fashion for leather jackets has returned. Only girls started wearing them. Why this happened - no one knows. So if you are wearing that same leather jacket, then you are either an old staunch rocker, a fan of Deep Purple or Metallica, or a young office worker.

Bomber jackets came into fashion in the 90s. They trace their ancestry directly to flight jackets, as is clear from the name. The word "bomber" means "bomber" in English. These jackets can be distinguished by the elastic bands that end the sleeves, frame the bottom of the product and its collar.

Thirty years ago, bombers were a real countercultural fetish, adored by skinheads and antifa. In the 2020s, they were remembered again and they became fashionable again, both for boys and girls. It is not only original, but also convenient and practical. And besides this, it’s relatively fresh, because in the 90s such jackets were worn by a very limited contingent.

Oddly enough, capri pants, which were briefly in fashion in the early 2000s, are popular again. Several Hollywood stars of the first magnitude have already appeared in them. This almost always means that we will soon see them on the streets. Yes, apparently, they will be worn with the same wardrobe items as a quarter of a century ago. So it's time to look for ballet flats, sandals, cropped sweatshirts and oversized sweaters.
