In the village even had its own port, which went to the fishing fleets of fishing boats and cargo vessels carrying fish to the mainland.
But in the early 90‑ies, everything changed. Fish in local waters became less and markets of Shanghai, the nearest large town, has fallen dramatically. People began to leave the village, and when the inhabitants were about 30, local authorities abolished the transport connection with the settlement.
In Gotowane stopped working last store closed a clinic and then left the village the toughest residents. Since the mid-90s, nobody lives here except birds, snakes and rodents. The house gradually wound ivy and wild grape and the village, covered with green "case" is not easy to see from the sea and from the air.
But Gotowane not forgotten. In the early 2000‑ies on the island appeared first fans of extreme tourism. Amazing green village, looking at the world empty Windows, impressed the guests and soon about this place spoke. The island has drawn tourists, timidly at first, small groups, and then the entire flow.
Now abandoned village Jutawan – a popular tourist attraction. Here trips on boats, and air helicopter tours. Sometimes the village is crowded with tourists scurrying everywhere, but there are moments of calm, when you can safely enjoy the spectacle of confrontation creations of human hands and ruthless nature.
