China has opened the suspended glass bridge and immediately set several world records
Chinese engineers-bridge builders never cease to amaze the world with their creations. Not so long ago in Hubei province has opened the longest bridge in the world that runs along the river, and was recently presented an even more fascinating project — the longest suspension bridge in the world of glass.
The unique bridge was built in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, across the liangjiang river, near the popular tourist city of Guangzhou. The authors of the project — engineering team of Zhejiang University and the Chinese architectural Studio Architectural Design. Length of their offspring amounted to 526 meters and a height of 201 meters.
Glass bridges in the world are very much the lion's share is in China, but this design was immediately recognized as unique. Unusual bridge in that it has suspended construction — before the glass transitions of this length, suspended on ropes in the world were erected.
Structure immediately got into the Guinness Book of records as the longest glass bridge and glass as the first suspension bridge of great length. Alas, the palm at the height of the building took opened last year, the bridge Huangtengxia in the same province of Guangdong, whose height is 500 meters.
The longest bridge with clear spans designed just for Hiking, although the thickness of the glass used in it is 4.5 cm, which allows you to easily withstand the weight of any passenger car. Its width is small, but in two places it expands to a viewing platform with a width of 9 meters.
The bridge is suspended on cables between two steel towers of red and looks incredibly impressive. Its creators assure that the design is absolutely safe and is able to withstand the weight of 500 visitors.
The provincial authorities hope that the new attraction will attract even more tourists to their rich natural and architectural monuments of the region.
