Cheaper than a glass of wine: a 15th-century French castle is being sold at auction for one euro
The magnificent castle of Blancafort (Chateau de Blancafort) of the XV century on October 19 can be bought at auction with all the surrounding beautiful gardens and territories. Bidding starts with one euro.
The castle was built in 1453 in the Loire Valley in the Romanesque style. The living area is about two thousand square meters, the castle also houses a library and several impressive wine cellars. In addition, it is only a 30-minute drive from the world-famous French vineyards of Sancerre. A dream, not an offer.

Source: Daily MailThe owners of the castle, the Count and Countess, have lived in a six-bedroom castle for the last 30 years. However, they decided to sell it (unfortunately, the reason is not reported, but I would really like to know) and turned to the New York auction house Concierge Auctions for help.
The blancafort was estimated at 4.95 million euros, however, theoretically, on October 19 it can be purchased for one euro. On 42 acres there is also a caretaker's house, a pastry shop, a shop and a guest house with six bedrooms. William Mackintosh, sales manager at Concierge Auctions, said: "Despite the huge size of the castle, it is incredibly cozy and comfortable." The castle has been lovingly cared for for many years and it is ready to move, which is quite rare for a structure that is more than 600 years old. I am sure that an auction with such a lot will attract many buyers from the UK and the USA who dream of changing their lifestyle. Charlie Smith, the auction house's European adviser, added that they were incredibly pleased to see such a magnificent castle on the market, located in the world-famous region of France. The facade of the castle was added in the XVII century in the French Baroque style. "The Blancafort Castle is an architectural symbol of the classic castles of France. We are sure that buyers from all over the world will be interested in them."
