Ruben Natal-San Miguel is a Puerto Rican by birth and a New Yorker by vocation. He first encountered the world of art in the 1980s when he saw the work of Andy Warhol on his way home. He fell in love with the work of this man, and art became his "hobby and main passion."
Ruben Natal-San Miguel moved to New York in 1993, but after the September 11 attacks, his life changed dramatically: he decided to move to Harlem, where, in his opinion, it was safer. It was then that his career as a photographer began. Reuben enjoys photographing everyday life in all five New York City boroughs, especially Harlem and Brooklyn.
