2. The idea, called 1000+ Coffees, was launched by Matt Culesza on September 3rd. After writing to Facebook with his friend Chris Schroeder (Kris Schroeder), the young man found out that he was leaving for Uganda soon, and decided to have time to meet him before leaving.

3. Over a couple of espressos and lattes, acquaintances who added each other on a social network back in May 2008 spoke live for the first time in several years, sharing their impressions of past trips, discussing politics and life in general.

4. Since that day, Kulesza has managed to communicate with 25 more people. The blogger knew some of them better than the rest, but most of them were known to him only from profiles on the Internet and a list of mutual friends displayed in one of the sections of the social network.

5. From blogger and radio DJ Jess Maguire to musician Kate Cake and former classmate Verity Peterson, the blogger asked interviewees about their lives, daily activities, passions and hobbies. In addition, each time Culesza separately recorded what kind of coffee his friends drank when they met.

6. According to the blogger, the idea to personally see those who have been marked on Facebook for years as a “friend” or “acquaintance” came to his mind during the next viewing of the list of people in his own profile and thinking about how to “clean” his friends , removing those with whom he does not actually communicate. As a result, Kulesza decided not to delete anyone, but instead to really get to know all the personalities behind the avatars.

7. “I thought that maybe I should not delete a person, but, on the contrary, get to know him better? I liked the idea. A kind of social experiment that I hope will change my own life for the better. This project is an attempt to remember what it really means to communicate with people.” — Matt Culesza

8. The blogger expects to keep up the momentum he has gained by meeting a new person almost every day. If he succeeds, the 1000+ Coffees project will be successfully completed by the end of 2017. During this time, the Australian body will receive about seven and a half kilograms of caffeine. You can follow Culesza's new blog entries via his Facebook page or by using the hashtag #thousandandpluscoffees on Twitter.

9. This summer, an American Mikel McLaughlin decided to implement a similar idea. Realizing that he knew practically nothing about most of his 602 Facebook friends, the man began to get to know and meet each of them personally.

At the time of this writing, McLaughlin managed to meet with 193 acquaintances, having spent more than four thousand dollars on moving to different US cities. Whether the American continues his experiment is unknown - his blog has not been updated since the beginning of July.
