"Black Mirror": dark-skinned model recreates advertising shots of fashion brands
Dedde Howard, originally from Liberia, works as a model in Los Angeles and wants to draw attention to the lack of diversity in the fashion industry. In her project "Black Mirror", she repeats photos from advertising campaigns of famous clothing brands, finding herself in the place of Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen. The author of these pictures is Swiss Raphael Dikreiter.
"In many modeling agencies, I was compared to one or two dark—skinned girls with whom the company already works," Howard writes on his website. — Representatives of the agency said that I have an amazing appearance and they would like to represent my interests, but they already have models with dark skin. At the same time, they have a lot of girls with European looks. It seems as if one or two dark-skinned models can represent us all."
