The favorite of millions Ben Affleck gave reporters The New York Times the most candid interview in his life. The actor spoke about his weaknesses and about the most important of them — alcoholism. He also told about how addiction to alcohol and disappointment in work almost cost him his career.
An interview with Ben Affleck appeared in the new issue of The New York Times and immediately became a sensation. For the first time, the actor spoke about those aspects of his life that he preferred not to talk about before. For many fans of the star, his short story became a real revelation, explaining many moments of his creative path and personal life.
Affleck said that he did not see his father sober until he was 19 and it always weighed on him. His family members have always been plagued by problems ranging from mental disorders and drug addictions to suicides.
The actor himself often experiences internal discomfort, which he previously suppressed with the help of alcohol, promiscuous sexual relations and gambling. This created a real vicious circle, from which Ben could not get out for years.
But the real problems in the life of a celebrity began after 2016. The film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", in which he played the main role, was negatively received by critics and viewers, and on top of that, problems began in family life. As a result, Affleck drank heavily, which was one of the reasons for his divorce from his wife, actress Jennifer Garner.Failures followed one after another. Not too successful experience associated with the role of the same defender of Gotham in "Justice League" convinced Affleck that he should no longer play superheroes. Alcohol, as always, has become the main means of dulling internal discomfort.
In the new adaptation of DC comics, Ben Affleck was supposed to become not only the performer of the role of Batman, but also the director and author of the script. But he realized that another failure would be fatal for him and refused this job.
To get rid of alcohol addiction Affleck had to undergo a serious rehabilitation course. The actor told reporters that friends Bradley Cooper and Robert Downey Jr. helped him cope with the problem. He expressed special gratitude to them for their serious support.
Fortunately, we have not lost our beloved actor and now his life and career are getting better. At the moment, Affleck is involved in four projects at once, among which it is worth mentioning the sports drama "Out of the Game" and the historical picture "The Last Duel" by Ridley Scott.
