Affleck said that he did not see his father sober until he was 19 and it always weighed on him. His family members have always been plagued by problems ranging from mental disorders and drug addictions to suicides.

The actor himself often experiences internal discomfort, which he previously suppressed with the help of alcohol, promiscuous sexual relations and gambling. This created a real vicious circle, from which Ben could not get out for years.

The film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", in which he played the main role, was negatively received by critics and viewers, and on top of that, problems began in family life. As a result, Affleck drank heavily, which was one of the reasons for his divorce from his wife, actress Jennifer Garner.Failures followed one after another. Not too successful experience associated with the role of the same defender of Gotham in "Justice League" convinced Affleck that he should no longer play superheroes. Alcohol, as always, has become the main means of dulling internal discomfort.
