The discovery of different planets and even the idea of creating areas that can be inhabited in the future has always been fantastic and attractive for people in modern times. Moreover, climate change is truly an emergency for our Earth, and perhaps life on other planets in the future may even be a necessity! This causes the scientific world to work on many different projects in order to both travel to different planets and live in space.

Another Step Towards Life on Mars

One of the companies working for the sustainability of human life on Mars and the Moon is Interstellar Lab. Designing a self-sustaining food production system called BioPod, Interstellar Lab aims to produce and recycle food, water, and air.

Another Step Towards Life on Mars

BioPods are designed as an inflatable dome that is 6 meters wide, 10 meters long and 4.5 meters high. It was also announced that the project was designed to revolutionize food production by growing a wide variety of crops and plants that would not survive in a traditional indoor farming setup, thanks to its combination of advanced crop growing technology with predictive monitoring. In other words, BioPod can be a life-saving project in the world.

Another Step Towards Life on Mars

Interstellar Lab built the BioPod project on “Reinvent the Sky” based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform provided by Dassault Systèmes. This platform accelerates the process from concept to certification for companies in the race to explore space. Interstellar Lab also used the platform to simulate, test and optimize the performance of BioPod's dome and biological systems. The simulation tested the BioPod's structure in extreme climates, as well as biological systems such as the optimal oxygen, carbon dioxide and light levels it provides for plant growth.

The results are promising! Thanks to this controlled environmental food production system, Interstellar Lab is advancing in its mission to build space-ready stations with infrastructure and resources to sustainably support human life on different planets.
