Amsterdam Anne Frank - past and present
The Anne Frank House Museum is one of the most popular buildings in Amsterdam. The famous diaries of Anne Frank, a Jewish girl who hid from the Nazis in Amsterdam, still excite the imagination, because they tell the story of one Jewish family, personifying the common horrors and persecution that millions had to endure. Inspired by the famous photographs from the “past and present” series taken by Sergey Larenkov, the authorities of the Anne Frank House Museum decided to create something similar. Only in their pictures past and present merge on the streets of Amsterdam, where Anna's family lived. Led by graphic designer Michael Dankaarts, this project is part of an app called Anne's Amsterdam, which serves as a digital diary that tells the story of Anne Frank and, at the same time, all of Amsterdam.
