A resident of the Czech Republic wanted to blow up a mole, but almost lost his legs
The fight against all kinds of pests is an important task for any summer resident or farmer. In this war, which has been going on since man began to cultivate the land, all methods are good. However, sometimes farmers go too far and become victims of "fighting" themselves. A resident of the town of Czech Budejovitsy, in the south of the Czech Republic, tried to get rid of the mole using pyrotechnics and was seriously injured.
To get rid of the mole that settled in his backyard, the 47-year-old gardener decided to use a powerful firecracker. It was not just a New Year's toy, but a product of the DUM BUM category F4. This marking means that pyrotechnics refers to professional devices and is not sold to just anyone.
Only a person with a special certificate obtained after training can purchase such a firecracker. This means that the mole fighter bought the mini-bomb illegally, having no idea about its properties. The man found a wormhole, put a pyrotechnic device in it and lit the fuse.
To enhance the effect of an underground explosion, an amateur miner covered a hole with a charge with a concrete paving slab and stood on top of it. The explosion that followed clearly exceeded all the man's expectations. The head of the police press service, Jiri Matzner, told about what the patrolmen saw at the station:
The unlucky mole fighter was seriously injured — the explosion broke his legs in several places. Now he is in the hospital and he is not in any danger. But doctors believe that the guy is very lucky that his legs are in place and that he survived. With the force of the explosion, he could have just been torn apart.
When examining the scene, no traces or remains of the mole were found. These mammals dig deep and winding burrows with many exits. It remains to hope that the animal was far away at the time of the explosion and therefore did not suffer.
