A German professor repainted the observatory into the R2-D2 droid from Star Wars

In a galaxy far, far away (Germany), Hubert Zitt, professor of applied sciences at Zweibrücken University, also known for his lectures on Star Trek and Star Wars, together with a small team of assistants turned the Zweibrücken Observatory into a huge R2-D2 droid.

The professor and science fiction fan finished the project in September 2018. He was assisted by his father-in-law Host Helle, professional painter Klaus Rufina and several students. Of course, such art attracted the attention of "Star Wars" fans and even actor Mark Hamill, who tweeted about it: R2-D2 Observatory Transformed Germans Into Giant Nerds https://t.co/s4vUwKGxEP via @LaughingSquid— Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) On March 22, 2019, Mark Hamill really liked the observatory in the form of a droid.
