7 Movie Costumes That Look Exactly Like Historical Originals
The biopic is one of the most difficult genres for a costume designer. Oddly enough, sometimes recreating existing clothes takes a lot more effort and time than designing character costumes from scratch. Clothing in films "based on true events" should be as close as possible to the legendary originals. Designers must carefully study the fashion of this historical period, research archives, and even reproduce vintage textiles.
It's great that there are so many talented designers in Hollywood who can take on such tasks at the highest level. At Fullpicche, we admire the talent of these people and would like you to take a closer look at these exquisite creations.

1. Judy, 2019.
One of Judy Garland's most striking stage looks was a black dress with bright colors that came from an unexpected source. Costume designer Jani Temime found the fabric in an Indian shop in northwest London. They only had 3.5 meters, so Janey could only make one dress. All the decorations on it were original jewels.
2. Young Victoria, 2009.
The costume designers for this movie did an amazing job. The Queen's wedding dress has been recreated with very high fidelity. As a result, the film won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Costume Design.
3. The story of Audrey Hepburn.
Looking at Jennifer Love Hewitt's dress, it's hard to believe that this is just a copy of the famous dress from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. This is the work of great designers!
4. Quiet passion, 2016.
One of the costumes shown in the film is a replica of the dress from the portrait of Emily Dickinson. The designers managed to perfectly recreate the poet's outfit.
5. 7 days and nights with Marilyn, 2011.
The design team behind the Marilyn Monroe biopic recreated many of the actress' costumes, including the iconic white dress from the romantic comedy The Prince and the Showgirl.
6. Tonya against everyone, 2017.
The costume designers recreated most of the famous figure skaters' dresses, such as this amazing burgundy dress that Tonya wore during her performance at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
7. Liz and Dick, 2012.
For Elizabeth Taylor's iconic scarlet dress, the costume designers focused on the cut, minimizing the dress's embellishments. And this did not spoil the appearance of the heroine at all.
