On May 11, 1981, Bob Marley died at the University of Miami Hospital. The last words of the king of reggae, which he said to his son, were: "Money cannot buy life." He left behind a rich legacy and millions of fans around the world. Despite the fact that many years have passed since his death, Bob Marley is still the most famous reggae artist. It was due to his international success that reggae gained wide popularity outside of Jamaica.

Bob Marley was one of the most prominent supporters of Pan-Africanism and a devout Rastaman, many other followers of Rastafarianism even consider him a prophet.
