Madeira island is known for its picturesque landscapes, rugged mountains, volcanoes and rocky beaches. But one of the most unique treasures of this Portuguese island ─ the relic forest, each step which takes you further into the tale.
Tanalski forest known for its mystical morning fog is part of the ancient Laurel forest. And, thanks to the wonderful images of Dutch photographer albert Dros (Albert Dros), we have the opportunity to travel to these scenic spots.
One of the most unique natural treasures of Madeira is an ancient Tanalski forest, located in the North-West of the island, at an altitude of about 1200 meters above the sea.This part of the forest Laurissilva, UNESCO world heritage site, made famous by their incredible beauty and ecological value.
Incredibly, 15-40 million years ago, much of southern Europe was covered by this type of Laurel forest.
Now it is only found in Madeira, Azores and the Canary Islands. Love especially notable for its Hiking trails and trees, age of which exceeds 500 years.
