We all know the saying "Live like a cat with a dog." In our view, dogs must not tolerate cats and oppress them in every possible way. But in life, not everything is so simple and sometimes there is no better friend and patron for a Murzik than a dog. This was proved by the example of the mongrel dog Ginny, who saved cats all her life.

Ginny's story began in a homeless shelter in Long Beach, New York, USA. It was there that the builder Philippe Gonzalez came in 1988 to find a friend. He planned to find himself a young Doberman, but it didn't work out. Philip saw a small awkward puppy and realized that the choice was made.

Shelter workers told Gonzalez that the puppy is a cross between a husky and a schnauzer. Therefore, no one knows what the dog will look like when it grows up. Ginny, which is exactly what the new owner called his pet, grew up small. The appearance of the animal was really specific — on the neck of the dog there was a mane like a lion. Combined with its compact size and good-natured muzzle, this detail invariably made everyone smile.

As soon as Ginny grew up, she discovered one strange feature. The dog simply adored cats and sought to communicate with them. Surprisingly, they reciprocated and not only were not afraid, but, on the contrary, behaved with Ginny as with their own. And as an adult, the dog began to look for cats who need help.

So said Philip Gonzalez in an interview with journalists of The Associated Press. The first rescued Ginny were five tiny kittens who fell into a pipe at a construction site. After this mission, the miracle dog got into the taste and began specifically looking for cats who found themselves in difficult situations.

She found them in the narrow gaps between knowledge, in the wells of storm sewers, in landfills, in abandoned cars. Sometimes Ginny showed incredible courage and self-sacrifice. One day she retrieved a kitten from the very bottom of a box filled with broken glass.

Ginny brought all the cats and brought them home. Soon it became difficult for Gonzalez to take care of the rescued animals. He had to feed and treat them, as well as look for new owners for them. Fortunately, Philip was worthy of his pet and meekly cared for the animals.

But Ginny helped Philip a lot. She became the heroine of two books: "The Dog that Saves Cats" and "The Blessing of Animals." They became bestsellers and improved the man's financial situation well. The unusual dog became a celebrity, she was even invited as an honorary guest to the Westchester Cat Show.
