Pet lovers have reason to rejoice: one of the largest dog meat markets is being closed in South Korea. "Starting with the elimination of equipment for processing animals and cages in the market, in the future we will stop the sale of dog meat in the Moran market," Kang Won—gu, a representative of the Seongnam city authorities, told The Korea Herald. Every year, up to 80 thousand dogs were sold in this market in live and killed form. The market share was 33% of the total volume of dog meat consumed in South Korea.
