The guy leaves reviews of benches all over the UK

Everyone has a hobby. It can be anything — collecting coins, stamps, sports, cosplay, or reviews of benches. Never heard of the latter? Then meet Samuel Wilmot, a 23-year-old from England who rates benches all over the country in his funny style. He sits on benches all over the UK, and leaves reviews about them. A historian by training, the guy finds his mission in this, and just has fun. Here are some of his reviews:

"The bench is comfortable, with large, wide armrests. The seat is of good height and with a slight bend. Plenty of space, plus a sign and a beautiful view. Definitely 7/10, " the guy writes under his photo on another bench.

"My camouflage jumper is cooler than this bench. I don't understand why they put such nondescript benches in such posh places. No armrests, no back support, no sign, no concrete base, no curves. I was very angry with the height of the bench — it is too high for a person of average height. He stood on tiptoe to ease the pressure on his thighs. The climb to the top of the hill was worth the view, but not the bench. 3/10, solely because of the location."

"This bench was put up in Chipping Sodbury just over a week ago, and it's just amazing. Incredible carvings made of giant mahogany. The drawings on it depict a local quarry, the waves on the seat represent the River Frome, and the birds carved on the back live nearby. The bench depicts earth, water, and air. This is an incredible piece of art. Comfortable seat, armrests, high back. Too bad some dude is covering up a beautiful piece of carving. Exactly 8/10»

"The Royal British Legion installed this bench as part of the memorial garden at Staple Hill and Mangotsfield in memory of the soldiers who fell there, who gave their lives for the hope of a better world. For convenience — 5/10".

"River Street, Bristol. Unfortunately, this bench suffered from vandalism and most of the seat was missing. Unfortunately, only 0/10".

"This mural of Robinson Crusoe in Hastings has become a whole selfie portal, where photos are constantly taken. However, the local authorities are going to remove such benches from the city center due to problems with anti-social behavior, which seems to me a desperate shame. But moving away from the sore point, the benches here are quite dirty. And besides, they are not particularly comfortable. Pros-a concrete fence, which protects well from the wind, and a cool view of the English Channel. I'll bet you 5/10."

"Traditional style, narrow seat, subtle and simple elements, view of old Baroque buildings. This is a bench in Dyreham Park. As is usually the case with such benches, they fall through when sitting on them (seen in the photo). Although I liked the way the color was preserved, this bench is not very strong and safe. 5/10».

"Stourhead is a living work of art. This was said back in the 1750s, and it is still true today. As for this bench, it was solid, the back had a significant protruding bend, the seat gently tilted and well cushioned the buttocks. I appreciated the bulky design and the thin holes. A place where you can sit indefinitely. 6/10».

"I like to relax, so naturally, I will always look at a bench with a back at an angle with love. The armrests are thick, and the seat is almost perfect. The disadvantage of this bench is due to the shallow seat — you need to secure your legs to keep yourself upright. There is a nice cafe nearby. I'll bet you 5/10."

"One of the toughest benches I've ever sat on is in Leeds. Not so long ago, when people began to actively attract people here, it became a holiday destination for young people. At first I liked the design and the unusual stone structure at the base. The wood is smooth and hard, but it would be nice to varnish it. The seat itself is solid, and the backrest is far away, so it is not an ideal place for long gatherings. In this case — 3/10".

"This bench stands in the village in Gloucestershire, which appeared in 1937. It is not known how old the bench is, but it definitely shows signs of its age: it is almost overgrown with plants, and the wood is raw. She could definitely use some repairs. Sitting on it early in the morning, with high humidity, will not be the most pleasant activity. I'll bet you 6/10."

"I went to the Almondsbury Garden Centre this morning for a walk, and I came across this little bench. The seat was deep enough, but the backrest left a lot to be desired — it was made for decorative purposes rather than for convenience. "A bench with a plastic coating is a protection against vandals. However, I prefer a solid wooden seat. I like the color that looks like real wood, but it's just an imitation. There are too many straight lines and angles in this bench for me — I'm a fan of curves. Pros: a solid base, a decent height of the backrest and a memorial plaque. Cons: no armrests, no bends. 5/10».

"The view was so beautiful that I almost forgot about the crappy bench. I understand that it is difficult to put a decent bench on the hill, but it is feasible. The bench was rotten, covered with lichen, without a back. It can be great to gather the courage to overcome the steps to the top, but the comfort leaves much to be desired. 3/10».

"There was no sign on the bench, but many inscriptions and names were carved into the wood. For a place that offers such a spectacular view of the Avon Gorge, one can only assume that the uncomfortable bench is worth it in order to discourage people from sitting too long and blocking the view to others. 3/10 — and then, only for the place."

"The Bristol Hills have been enjoyed here since 1861. It is a place to breathe, enjoy and appreciate the beauty around you. On the bench was a cute memorial plaque: "We sit with you to heal our pain." It was a good bench, but the seat was a little uneven, and the armrests weren't my type. But the back is comfortable, in good condition. Overall, not bad — 5/10".
