Now a new headache for the actor has been added to the issues of custody of their children with Angelina Jolie: residents of New Orleans, who suffered from the devastating hurricane Katrina back in 2005, are filing a class action lawsuit against him. They are outraged that the actor's charitable foundation has built substandard houses for them.

When Hurricane Katrina hit the state, Brad Pitt was one of the first who was ready to help the affected New Orleans. The actor's charitable foundation "Make it Right" was engaged in the construction of houses for those who lost their homes over their heads due to the elements. There were no whole buildings left in the Lower Ninth Yard area at all, and it was almost completely buried under water. It was here that the construction of reliable and eco-friendly housing began under the auspices of the Pitt Foundation.

In order to personally control the construction, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt bought a mansion in New Orleans in 2005 and made it their second home. The actor has repeatedly arranged meetings of local residents and architects, where the future of the city and the district was discussed. He personally led the volunteers, and performed during charity events to raise money.
When construction began, Pitt himself supervised it at all stages
The Foundation, led by Hollywood star and designer William McDonough, has built a total of 109 homes for the victims in the ten years since 2005. These were buildings of unusual shape, which were constructed using the latest eco-technologies and the principles of "green" construction. Brad Pitt personally communicated with residents and offered them to choose not only the color of new houses, but also some parameters of buildings and the height of piles that "lifted" houses above the ground.
New residents enjoyed modern and cozy houses. At the expense of the fund, the necessary household appliances were installed in the houses, solar panels were placed on the roofs, allowing saving on utility bills. After some time, the entire Lower Nint Yard area turned into a tourist attraction. It seemed that such an "idyll would last forever."
It should be noted that the houses built by the foundation are cheap, but still not free housing. New residents paid the foundation 100-130 thousand dollars for the building, which, according to them, is a tangible amount for local families. However, after ten years of operation, many of the buildings have fallen into an extremely deplorable state, and due to constant problems with roofs, electrical wiring, water supply and sewerage, it is almost impossible to live in them.
The Make it Right Foundation was going to build about 150 houses in one of the districts of New Orleans – as of 2016, about $27 million was officially spent on more than a hundred houses.

Last week, two more people sued Brad Pitt and his Make it Right foundation, accusing the organization of "breach of contract and fraud for selling houses with defects and with inadequate quality." The actor's press secretary released an official statement on behalf of the foundation and Brad Pitt:
