Offices have become more ergonomic, employees have received more individual space, and computers have already appeared that have changed everything - both work processes and the approach to work itself. Over the past half century, technology has taken a very steep step forward, and today the technology of that time looks like an anachronism. The more interesting it is to consider it.
These photographs from the Melbourne Harbour Trust series from the Public Record Office Victoria collection show some of the office space and work equipment of the Port of Melbourne Authority (PMA) employees. The pictures were taken in offices on Market Street in the 1970s and 80s and at the World Trade Center in Melbourne in 1983.
