These masks can turn any person into a "machine". They are so detailed and realistic!

Dmitry Bragin creates stunning works inspired by the steampunk style. Mysterious masks completely hide the face under metal patterns. In his works, Bragin uses various textures, mechanical details — for example, tiny gears — as well as patterns similar to organic roots, and combines them in one form. Putting on a mask, its owner seems to turn into a hybrid of a man and a machine.

Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction inspired by industrial steam engines of the XIX century. Although some note that Bragin masks are not real steampunk, since there are no moving parts in them, the artist definitely conveys the spirit and aesthetics of this style.

Masks replete with incredible details are the result of Bragin's vision and creative thinking. He starts with a thin plastic mask that is easy to cut to change its shape. Then he adds decorative elements; for example, a camera lens that he bought at a sale can inspire him to create an entire design. Sometimes he uses unexpected objects: for example, a motorcycle from a children's toy.

Although Bragin's works look as if they are cast from bronze or other metal, this is an illusion. This is due to the acrylic paint that the master applies in layers with a brush to age the mask and create the illusion of weight. This material actually makes the masks light and comfortable to wear, which allows the wearer to transform into a retro-futuristic character at any time.
