It is difficult to imagine a place more private than this piece of civilization on the edge of the world, on a stone cliff, offering breathtaking amazing views.
The lighthouse stands on the highest of the three nearby cliffs. From a certain perspective it seems that this rock called Háidrangur sharp, but she's actually quite flat and wide. And the only way to get there is by helicopter. One of the main conditions required for the flight to the island, clear, cloudless weather. As for Iceland it is a rare phenomenon.
Lighthouse Tredegar on the Westman island off the coast of Iceland was built in 1939. At that time not yet used helicopters, so construction on a remote rock in the ocean was a daunting task.
Earlier on this remote island-lived rock Rangers, who were engaged in maintenance of the lighthouse and alternately succeeded each other. For decades workers got here by boat, then to climb to a dangerous height on the difficult climb among the rocks.
Today the lighthouse is fully automatic. Sometimes workers arrive here to check the status of the lighthouse, to correct possible problems. And the views from here are just incredible.
Pilot Gisli GĂslason published a stunning video from a helicopter, when the team was approaching the island.
A work crew spent the night on the island and remained in awe of the view from the island. The guys checked out the equipment and condition of the lighthouse, spent prevention of solar panels and electrical systems.
It is an amazing place inspired by the Icelandic Queen of suspense, a writer to the IRS Sigurdardottir at the creation of detective bestseller "Why Did You Lie?". Even the lighthouse has its own page on Facebook, although it can be assumed that the Internet is on a steep cliff leaves much to be desired.
