Men in protective helmets, reflective suits and seat belts erect scaffolding around the Elizabeth Tower (the official name of the tower of the Palace of Westminster). Due to the restoration, the 13-ton bell of Big Ben will not ring until 2021 - otherwise its battle would have a detrimental effect on the hearing of workers in the immediate vicinity of it.

Some conservative members of parliament suggested that during the repair, the clock should still ring once — at midnight on March 29, 2019, as a sign of the final separation of the UK from the European Union.

The 96-meter Elizabeth Tower was built in 1859 and for a long time was simply called the clock tower. The tower received its current name in 2012, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
