The Ehresund Bridge, designed by Danish architect Georg Rotne, was opened on July 1, 2000. The bridge stretches for about 8 kilometers, and then with the help of an artificial island turns into a 4-kilometer tunnel.
The place is interesting both architecturally and biologically: more than 500 interesting plant species grow on the island, built from material raised from the bottom of the sea. Most of the concrete tunnel was made on the ground and towed to the construction site.
