(Total 10 photos)
1. The danger of climbing
If you think climbing an icy waterfall is dangerous, imagine the horror people experience when a piece of ice breaks off and falls a few meters away from them. This is exactly the situation climbers Albert Lechtfried and Markus Bandler found themselves in during their ascent of a frozen waterfall near the Japanese city of Hokkaido. This frightening moment was captured on camera. Fortunately, the climbers remained safe and sound.
2. Frozen stream
This extraordinary ice waterfall perfectly reflects the full power of the flow of water under the ice. Looking at this frozen picture, it is hard to even imagine how a dynamically moving stream of water could turn into ice.
3. Frang Weil, Colorado
Every year, many snow climbers flock to Frang Vale, Colorado. Here, a huge ice column forms from a powerful cascading waterfall. This happens in extremely cold winters. The frozen pillar can be up to 50 meters high and 8 meters wide.
4. St. Louis, Quebec
This thick layer of ice is found in the Canadian province of Quebec. Near this place is a building that houses the largest hydroelectric power plant in the world.
5. View from all sides
This fantastic shot shows the frozen waterfall inside and out. If you look closely, you can see part of the waterfall flowing through the ice.
6. Ice marshmallow
The wavy lines and knots of ice at the waterfall at Starved Rock State Park, Illinois, give the whole picture an unusual texture. In all its appearance, the waterfall resembles a marshmallow.
7. Hamilton, Canada
This accidentally discovered waterfall is located near the road at the exit from the Canadian city of Hamilton.
8. Ice folds
The folds at the bottom of this waterfall demonstrated how slowly a waterfall can freeze. These folds are in sharp contrast to the jagged, spiny icicles hanging from the edge of the cliff.
9. Ice block
This huge block of ice is located in Oak Creek Canyon, close to a place called the Temple of Mother Earth on the West Fork Trail, Sedona, Arizona.
10. Frozen moment
Just a fabulous shot, a breathtaking view from the bottom to the top. It is amazing to watch the flowing water freeze. These are exactly what is called natural beauty.
