1. In early May, Meme, as friends affectionately called Uribe, ended up in a hospital in the Mexican city of Monterrey. It is noted that he was hospitalized with a crane. The day before, May 26, 2014, the 48-year-old record holder's liver stopped functioning, which caused his death.

2. Manuel Uribe began to rapidly gain weight in his 20s. In 1987, he illegally emigrated to the United States, where he began to repair computers. “I drove my car from home to the office and back and ate all day long. And at the same time, I didn’t go in for sports at all, ”Manuel said in an interview with reporters. He subsequently returned to Mexico.

3. Since 2001, after gaining a mass of 587 kg, he was no longer able to leave the bed. In 2006, Manuel Uribe began to weigh more than 590 kg, in connection with which he became famous and got into the Guinness Book of Records.

4. Later, Manuel Uribe turned to specialists and television for help. He received many offers, including bariatric surgery. However, Uribe did not dare to undergo surgery.

5. Uribe began to adhere to a protein diet, and by 2008 his weight had dropped to 381 kg. For the first time in years, he went out on his own.

6. In 2006, Manuel met 36-year-old Claudia Solis, who from time to time came to cut Manuel's hair and nails. Then her visits grew into a friendship that continued despite the protests of Claudia's relatives. In October 2008, Manuel proposed to her, and the woman reciprocated. At that time, Manuel's weight was 330 kg, Claudia - about 67 kg.

7. As Claudia Solis admitted, initially her family was against marriage to Uribe, since her first husband, who was also obese, died suddenly of a heart attack (according to other sources, he stopped breathing). “They resisted because they were afraid that my second husband might also die in my arms,” Claudia said in 2008.

8. To transport Meme after the marriage ceremony to his wife, relatives had to temporarily demolish the wall in her house.

9. As of March 2011, Manuel managed to reduce his weight to 187 kg with the help of diet and exercise.

10. At the moment, the heaviest of the living people on the planet is considered a resident of Saudi Arabia, Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari. Its weight is 610 kilograms.

11. At the time of death, Meme Uribe weighed 394 kg.
