Hypertrichosis is a rare disorder characterized by excessive hair growth on abnormal areas of the skin. Mostly, this disease occurs in women, but it also occurs in men. The first known case of hypertrichosis was recorded in the Gonsalvus family, who lived in France at the end of the 16th century.
