Who and why stretches wires between houses

But 10-15 years ago, a web of motley conductors thickly entwined gaps between houses at the height of roofs, and sometimes even lower. As a child, we could only guess what these communications were for, but now it is not difficult to find out their exact purpose.
Cables and wires stretched between houses can be divided into three large groups of electrical communications. It must be said right away that there is nothing illegal in the aerial method of laying cables, unless, of course, they do not interfere with anyone and do not pose a danger.
Most of the wires stretched between buildings belong to the wired radio network. Today, this technology is almost not used, but in the 90s it was in great demand. The wires of the radio network were laid even before the commissioning of residential buildings — for this, a cable was stretched between the roofs of nearby buildings, which protected the thin radio line from sagging and damage.
Most of the wires of the radio network have been broken for a long time, and the remaining ones do not perform their function. But the second category of conductors is still in operation. These are television cables, "twisted pairs" and the optical fiber of Internet providers, which provides us with the most valuable - access to the global network.
Why can't the cables be hidden in the ground, you ask. The answer is simple — to stretch them through the air faster, easier and much cheaper than underground. It is also easier to repair the "air" without causing inconvenience to anyone - without destroying sidewalks and digging trenches in courtyards.
The third category of cables is "special" communications that perform service functions. Lines of dispatching communication of elevators, emergency communication, emergency lighting and other important services can be stretched between the houses. There are other wires that are very rare, for example, amateur radio antennas.
Today there are fewer wires between houses, as wireless networks have solved many communication problems. Despite this, we can hardly expect that in the coming years we will completely get rid of the remnants of this "web", which partially continues to be used.
