What surprises foreign men most about Russian women

All over the world, it is believed that in Russia, women, like a hundred years ago, are completely at the mercy of men. Yes, the European-American emancipation has not touched us yet and our ladies are still opening doors and helping to carry heavy bags. In the West, they are perplexed — how our women still tolerate this and do not rise up to overthrow such unimaginable chauvinism. There are other amazing things for foreigners that especially amaze men.

Finnish journalist Anna-Lena Lauren, who lived and worked in Russia for several years, once said:

Most likely, she is right, since many foreign men who had the good fortune to observe the way of life of Russians for a long time noted that a "carefully disguised matriarchy" flourishes in the country. Yes, we have the whole household on a woman, and even in many men's affairs it does not do without the advice or even direct intervention of a woman.

Almost all Russian women cook well and, most importantly, love this business. Many even believe that if a Russian woman does not gravitate to cooking borscht and baking kulebyak, then she is not Russian at all. There is a popular stereotype among Americans that represents our women as individuals who are constantly baking, kneading and cooking something. And they're just not their own if they don't feed the guest to exhaustion.

This is due to the fact that most American women, and European women, nowadays do not know how to cook at all and can manage, except with a coffee machine and a microwave. Of course, any woman who conjures with pots and ladles will seem to the unspoiled John, Walter and Pierre as the goddesses of cooking. Alas, gradually this type of women is being translated and we are moving to the Western model of a helpless "hostess".

Foreigners are sure that all Russians, regardless of gender, drink vodka. Women use on an equal basis with men, and if they suddenly turn out to be non-drinkers, then their belonging to the Russian people is in doubt. There is no doubt that there are many women in Russia who can drink worse than men, but it is difficult to understand where the confidence in total drunkenness comes from.

From our lady, who finds herself in the company of foreigners, alcoholic exploits are certainly expected and, rest assured, vodka will be prepared on the table for the Russian woman, if the "wine list" is not agreed in advance. Very often, the expectations of fans of the show are not justified and the guest turns out to be no more inclined to drink than the average European.

Many people note that Russian women lack self-confidence, both in everyday life and at work. HR specialists say that Russians always respond to a lower-level vacancy than they can apply for, given their education and work experience. Sometimes they even have to be convinced that they deserve more and it is difficult for foreigners to understand.

Psychologists believe that Russian women and cars drive worse than men, not for some objective reasons, but only because everyone around them is sure that ladies are unfit to drive vehicles. Foreign men also feel this uncertainty in many other situations in which their compatriots feel like a fish in water.

Russian women are the most beautiful and desirable. Men in any country of the world will tell you about this and they will never be persuaded. The reason lies not only in the Slavic appearance, but also in the fact that Russian women are used to taking care of themselves. European and American feminism encourages an indifferent attitude to their appearance, and a well-groomed girl is considered a stupid "dummy" by default.

Young women in Europe believe that if they do not take care of themselves, they will attract real, sincere love and they will be appreciated for their human qualities, not for their appearance. This deprives Westerners of sexuality in their daily lives.

Speaking about the qualities of Russian women, foreigners not least mention their pragmatism and self-interest. This stereotype of a lady from Russia with a purse instead of a brain originated in the post-perestroika 90s, when thousands of women rushed to look for rich suitors "from over the hill."

Our countrymen were convinced that anyone, the most inundating American, Frenchman or German is better than the most worthy domestic groom. This myth has caused a huge number of personal tragedies, and also created the image of a greedy and calculating bitch, ready to do anything for the coveted foreign citizenship.
