The author of the Unknown Soldier project says that his photo story is not about the war, but, on the contrary, about what remains of it. About realities that previously seemed unthinkable.

For three years, the photographer photographed the military, who were badly maimed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He visited his heroes in their homes and military hospitals.

6. Major Matt Smith. On June 8, 2013, he was shot at in Afghanistan by a member of the Afghan National Army. His leg was amputated.

7. Logistics Specialist Michael Fox. November 15, 2011 was injured during a patrol in Afghanistan.

8. Sergeant Shiloh Harris. On February 19, 2007, he was blown up by a roadside mine. The explosion killed three of the five people.
