Locals have a chance to become someone's lunch every day. Wildlife is merciless in its justice: the strongest survives. In this fight, a person rarely comes out victorious, but this case is one of those when he managed to escape.
What a man felt while being held captive by a huge hungry hippopotamus, and how he managed to get out — read on for details of the action-packed story.
The man's struggle for life lasted 10 minutes, which to someone seemed endless. Mathew Wanjiuku came to fish on Lake Naivasha in Kenya, where about two thousand hippos live. As a result, he himself was caught by a huge behemoth.
One of the strongest and most dangerous animals of the African continent has seriously injured a Kenyan. Fortunately, Matthew quickly began to search and scared off the formidable hippopotamus with loud sounds of metal shields.
Matthew tried to run away and hide under a fallen tree, but the hippopotamus caught up with him. He could eat a fisherman in just a few minutes, biting off his victim's limbs and torso.
The moment of the incident was captured by 47-year-old Frederico Genovese, an Italian photographer who came to the lake to shoot wildlife.
The hippopotamus grabbed the man and was going to trample him. The enraged animal shook its head and raised its front legs.
Rescuers with all their might began to pound on the metal shield to drive away the enraged beast. They managed to do it only after 10 minutes.
Wildlife gives people the opportunity to observe and enjoy themselves, but is merciless to those who violate its rules. Animals protect their territory from uninvited guests. Therefore, it is better not to take risks and not to invade their possessions. Do you still want to go to Africa to have fun on safari?
