Social media platforms are full of profiles dedicated to travel. Sometimes they are people who prefer venturing on their adventures solo, while others can't imagine exploring new places without a companion by their side, sharing these cherished moments with a significant other.

Zuzu Galova and Peter Sedlacik, originating from Slovakia, prove that traveling as a couple offers substantial benefits. This pair, fueled by a shared passion for global expeditions, found a very unique method to capture every important moment and the places they chance upon. The way they do that is truly innovative. With their fresh approach, Zuzu and Peter create a set of photographs they take of each other. What really makes these shots stand out is they pull the camera trigger at the same time, while looking at each other. This way they get to see a real “full picture” of the place they’re at - being able to see it from two perspectives. If you’re still confused and wondering how these portraits can be so special, just scroll down and see the impressive collection of photographs documenting the travels of this creative couple.

Pictolic reached out to Zuzu and Peter to find out more about their captivating photo series. We asked them to describe the moment or inspiration that led to the creation of this unique concept. We learned that: “Our moment of inspiration came during our very first holiday as a couple ten years ago. We are both creatives who love taking photos, and at that time, we had at least 5-6 cameras with us on the trip. We knew we wanted to create a sort of travel diary. Then, one day, while we were both taking photos, we spontaneously ended up capturing images of each other simultaneously. This sparked the idea of using this concept, which we have employed ever since.”

As we all know, timing is often crucial in photography. We were curious if the couple could share a memorable instance where capturing the perfect moment was particularly challenging. Zuzu and Peter told us: “One that comes to mind is from Uluru, Australia. We aimed to capture the sunrise moment, so the timing was critical. However, numerous other photographers had the same idea. Suddenly, we found ourselves on one side capturing the beautiful scene and on the other, jostling with a crowded spot to get the perfect shot.”

“Another challenging experience was when we were taking photos in the ocean while swimming with the whale sharks in Western Australia. Swimming alongside these gentle giants and photographing each other was a bit of a challenge.”

We also learned about other memorable moments from your travels that left a lasting impression on the couple: “One of our most memorable trips was traveling around Australia in a campervan. Six weeks of travel, covering thousands of kilometers through the remote bush, in a tiny campervan, with a broken radio and no A/C in the heat. We like to say that if we survived this as a couple, we can survive anything.”

Beyond the captivating visuals, Zuzu and Peter's photographs seem to explore the universal themes of connection and shared experiences. We were curious about the message or emotion the couple hopes viewers will take away from their work. They shared: “Firstly, we want to show our audience that it's not just about beautiful photos. While we do choose stunning settings on both sides, sometimes it's important to show the reality – the 'Insta-worthy picture' from one angle may involve navigating through crowds, mess, etc.

Secondly, since this is our travel diary, it remains personal. Some of our audience has been with us for over a decade. It's wonderful to be able to showcase the connection we have as a couple and share it with them too.”
