The wife did not let the Mexican fan go to the championship, so friends took his cardboard copy to Russia

A friend in trouble will not leave. A group of football fans from Mexico is delighting social media users with photos from their trip to the World Cup in Russia. The pictures wouldn't have attracted so much attention if it weren't for one thing: the guys are traveling with a cardboard copy of their friend, whom his wife didn't let go to the World Cup.

This story began during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Five friends from Mexico agreed to go to the next championship on a bus painted in the colors of the flag and have a good time.

The guys bought a cheap bus that could cope with a long trip to Russia, but in April 2018, when the company was about to set off, one of the friends named Javier reported bad news. His wife did not allow him to go to the championship. The man recorded this news on video and posted it on Facebook.

Despite the fact that Javier's news upset his friends, they did not give up their dreams. But they weren't going to leave their friend either. They came up with a brilliant idea — to take with them a cardboard copy of a friend in a T-shirt with the inscription "My wife did not let me go." They even specially created a Facebook page where they post photos with a cardboard friend. Cardboard Javier has fun no worse than the real one: he goes to bars, takes pictures with girls on the street — in general, he rests to the fullest.

And most importantly, friends took Javier, albeit fake, to watch the match.
