The smallest houses in the world are much more spacious than they seem

There is not enough housing for everyone, but no one has canceled the desire to get their own house, inherent in most people. The imagination of modern architects comes to the rescue, who manage to place everything they need on a few square meters. Moreover, make it beautiful!
For Macy Miller from Idaho, building his own, albeit small, house was a real dream. And its realization really made Macy happy.
The construction process itself took two years, during which the trailer trailer turned into a very comfortable home.
In addition to the fact that the happy new landlord Miller was spared from paying the mortgage, like most of his compatriots, he also wrote a book about his experiment, which is sold over the Internet, and also met his mate - judging by Miller's blog, his name is James.
Buses in general quite often turn into houses. And they are quite comfortable - especially if an architect takes up the case.
Architecture student Hank Butita bought an old school bus for $3,000.
The functional solution looks like this: the bus interior is divided into 4 zones — bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom. Moreover, the zones can be swapped according to the situation — "movable real estate" quite allows such mobility.
The advantage of the bus as a "basis" for a house is also that you can continue to travel on it. After defending his graduation project, Hank and his friends traveled all over the country, literally without leaving home.
And here is one of the solutions to the problem of housing for young families. A small house in Wisconsin was built in a forest clearing by Johnsen Schmaling Architects.
Inside it looks much more spacious than outside, in particular due to the fact that some rooms are "hidden" in the hillside on which the house stands.
The house even has a spacious hall. And in certain angles it looks almost like a loft with five-meter ceilings.
In fact, the structure is very, very compact. However, it has everything you need to live in, including two bedrooms. However, the bathroom had to be removed to the lower level, the one that is located in the hillside.
The beach house, designed by Studiomama Studio, has an area of only 388 square feet — that's just over 36 square meters! But at the same time it is reliable, as befits a building standing on the seashore.
The building stands on galvanized piles, which protects its inhabitants from flooding. Inside, everything is extremely functional, and at the same time exquisite.
No wonder: architects and designers of Studiomama have well established themselves as creators of simple and original solutions that organize everyday life. Nina Tolstrap, head of the studio, lives and works in London and is well acquainted with the needs and tastes of the capricious European consumer.
As a result, the compactness of the beach house does not interfere with its functionality or stylishness at all. And a full-length window facing the sea will make anyone forget about the tightness.
As a result of Studiomama's creative efforts, a compact house the size of a small studio apartment houses a living room and a dining room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen.
The house called Williams Cabin, developed by Atkinson Architecture studio, looks a little like the robot Valley from the cartoon of the same name, according to its creators.
The house is so small that it was included in the collection dedicated to "nanodomes" (Nano House), published in 2011.
However, he also entered the collection about modern houses (the New Modern House) of the same year of release thanks to interesting layouts and design solutions.
A house called Sol Duc Cabin was built in Washington State for one of the lovers of fishing on the Olympic Peninsula. During the absence of the owner, the impressive windows are completely closed with the help of reliable mechanisms. Piles, as you might guess, are designed to protect the house from flooding by the river.
The roof is designed specifically to protect from the sun and strong sea storms, which are not uncommon here. The design of the premises is harsh, as is the nature of the local nature. The main requirements of the owner were compactness, extreme functionality and economy in maintenance. As well as high reliability of structures. And such a requirement is easy to understand — after all, the house is located in the places where the action of the vampire saga "Twilight" unfolds.
This house in northern California was designed by architect Michael Lawrence for his wife Diana.
During a long life together — more than thirty years — the couple moved at least twenty times before they came to the idea of their own home in the wilderness.
So Michael and Diana approached the realization of their idea of an ideal home with all responsibility.
What happened in the end completely suits the spouses. For more than seven years they have been living away from everyone, in a house without electricity.
They are happy and call their home a newly found lost paradise.
The Cube project is the brainchild of Michael Page from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK. The main idea here is the construction of houses with parameters no more than three by three by three meters.
Another important point is to minimize the impact on the environment. Therefore, only environmentally friendly materials are used in the construction, and the house is heated with solar panels.
The house called PACO perfectly corresponds to the same proportions - three meters on each side. The project was prepared by the Tokyo studio Sschemata Architecture Office Ltd.
The interior space of a very small cube is very multifunctional. Which allows you to organize all the necessary living areas inside. With a certain ingenuity, of course. For example, due to its bulkiness, the project developers replaced the bed with a hammock.
The only room in the house can serve as a kitchen, a bedroom, and a study. Of course, the bathroom too. To do this, you will have to push the special doors in the floor and lower the curtain from the ceiling.
Another option that claims to be a record holder in compactness is a house-room designed by Polish architect Jakub Szczesny.
The total area of the house-room is only 14.5 square meters, and the width can range from 72 to 122 centimeters.
The mobile room is planned to be located in small voids between buildings standing next to each other. Of course, in such a space, as they say, you can't turn around. But everything necessary for life in the house is available.
The project provides for a living room, a small office, a compact bathroom. The entrance to the house, as its author suggests, will be carried out by a narrow staircase.
Such a compact project was created by order of the Israeli writer Etgar Keret. The customer was satisfied — according to him, the house creates ideal conditions for work.
