Future special agents undergo rigorous training for several months at a classified facility called "Farm", which is supposedly located in the state of Virginia. The United States does not advertise the existence of a spy base, but former CIA employee Amaryllis Fox shared fascinating details of life on the "Farm", where she was trained for anti-terrorist missions.Amaryllis Fox frowned, concentrating while firing an M4 rifle, searched the area for the presence of "bombs" and overturned the car, hiding from actors portraying terrorists. And it wasn't shooting a Hollywood action movie. The woman is a real CIA spy who hid on a "Farm" — in a "city" specially created for elite young agents, where they underwent secret training for six months.
Hidden from prying eyes, the object occupies 41 square kilometers. It is located in the territory of the state of Virginia. An amazing game full of adrenaline and adventure is held here, during which American spies receive real combat training.
Against the backdrop of a fictitious city square, green spaces and buildings depicting embassies, carefully selected CIA officers study everything from recruiting informants to resisting torture. Spies are even taught how to commit suicide if they fall into enemy hands abroad. At each stage, trainees who do not meet CIA standards are eliminated.
Amaryllis remembers how they were taught to drive safely. The trainees were shown how to turn the car over, piercing the rear wheel with keys, and react instantly while being surrounded by armed militants or trapped.
Fake bombs were left on the roadsides for future spies, which they had to detect and detonate.
Although former agents talk about the "Farm", the CIA does not disclose information about its existence. It is said that it is located on the territory of the American military reservation Camp Peary near Williamsburg.
Amaryllis is the daughter of an American economist and a British actress. The girl was only 22 years old when she was recruited by the CIA, after she created an algorithm for predicting suspected terrorist hideouts.
For the first time, the future spy faced terrorism at the age of 8, when her best friend died along with other 269 victims during a Pan Am flight. The plane was blown up over Lockerbie in Scotland in 1988.
Later, when Amaryllis was studying at Oxford University, her curator, journalist Daniel Pearl, was kidnapped and beheaded by terrorists in Pakistan.
For the first two years in the CIA, the girl analyzed the secret channels of foreign governments and sent letters to the US president every day. She had to watch creepy execution videos to determine the filming location. The parents couldn't even imagine what their daughter was doing and thought she was working as a consultant for a multinational company. When Amaryllis turned 24, she became an elite spy trainee undercover and was sent to a secret "Farm" for six months without being able to maintain contact with loved ones.
At a secret CIA base, the woman lived in a fictional country, the Republic of Victoria, where she was an employee of the American embassy. Each intern was given a fake name to hide his identity. Despite the artificially created environment, everything in the town looked quite real: the embassy building with the American flag and the square with wooden gazebos.
The training was mainly conducted by young people aged 20 to 30 years. They attended staged social events together with "diplomats", where they found targets and "recruited" them as agents.
Future spies drove cars with secret compartments where they hid documents and were engaged in tracking routes in a "cat-and-mouse game" with operatives.Meeting with agents, trainees learned complex methods of signaling. For example, they bought coffee only with a gift card so that the personal credit card number remained unknown.
Spies were sent to day training in a wooded area, where they were taught to shoot at targets with Glocks and M4 rifles in combat scenarios that unfolded in urban conditions.
Amaryllis confides: during the weekend, the interns met at local hotels, where they watched movies and had sex.
Those who failed to achieve their goals were excluded from the "Farm". This was announced by a siren suddenly heard in the city. At that moment, everything stopped and it seemed that the apocalypse had come.
But for specialists, this is just the beginning — the practice of dangerous life under cover, where they will infiltrate terrorist networks, recruit foreign officials and try to make the world safer.
Amaryllis had to take baby Zoya, who is now 11 years old, with her to perform special operations to prevent terrorist attacks. Nevertheless, the former spy is happy that she managed to successfully complete her mission.
There are also many women in the history of domestic intelligence, whose exploits are classified many years later. Their fates are no less interesting than the secrets they have obtained.
