Fame came to Ellen von Unwerth when she first photographed Claudia Schiffer. Her works were published by leading magazines: Vogue, Vanity Fair, Interview, The Face, Arena, Twill, L'Uomo Vogue and I-D. Ellen has published several photobooks and in 1991 won the first prize at the International Festival of Fashion Photography (International Festival of Fashion Photography).
Von Unwerth also makes short films for fashion designers and music videos for pop artists. She has directed commercials for global brands such as Revlon, Clinique and Equinox.
Ellen von Unwerth photographed a huge number of famous actors and musicians, including stars of the first magnitude: Catherine Deneuve, Vanessa Paradis, Monica Bellucci, Kate Moss and David Bowie, Amber Valletta, Christina Aguilera, Nadia Auerman, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Isabella Rossellini, Beyonce, Dita von Teese, Eva Herzigova, Penelope Cruz, Letitia Casta, Eva Green and many others.
